Naperville Reads

Reported by on 1/15/19

The one and only Katherine Applegate is the featured author for this year’s Naperville READS! Her focus book is Wishtree! How perfect is this for us after our One School, One Book last year January! Now we have the chance to meet this awe-inspiring author!

All of our District’s fourth grade students have the awesome opportunity to meet Katherine Applegate! All south schools will visit her at Pfeiffer Hall in Naperville in the morning on Tuesday, January 29. All north schools will visit her in the afternoon. She’ll spend 45 minutes talking to them and have some time for Q&A.

Anderson’s Bookshop in Naperville is among the many sponsors of the annual citywide reading celebration. The backers of Naperville READS celebrate the fact that reading opens new worlds, and exposes ideas in our hearts and minds. And nothing enriches communities more than compassion, inclusion, diversity and kindness, which are the keys to Katherine Applegate’s widely-praised featured book, Wishtree.

A public event for the community featuring the 2019 Naperville READS author, Applegate – who is also a Newbery Medalist and New York Times best-selling author – will be held beginning at 7PM on Tues., Jan. 29, at Naperville Central High School, 440 W. Aurora Ave. This event is free and open to the public. Tickets to attend this special event are available, but not needed, at Books are also available for purchase on the Brown Paper tickets website or at the door.

Did you know that a new Wishtree was published? It has a beautiful new cover and is designed for adult readers. It is available in paperback ($15.99). The original is only available in a hardcover ($16.99).

If you don’t have a copy of Wishtree yet, please follow this link for some additional information and an opportunity to place an order for either copy (or both) of Wishtree: Books will be personalized and autographed by Katherine Applegate!
