Policies & Procedures

Each student:

• will follow the Patriot Guidelines while visiting the LMC
• may visit the LMC at any time or as often as the classroom teacher permits
• may have 4 items (grades 1-5; 2 items for kindergarten) checked out at one time for a period of 2 weeks
• will be responsible for materials checked out--any lost or damaged material will be billed to the student
• will be responsible for his or her library card--a damaged or lost library card will require replacement for a fee of $2.50
• will be instructed from kindergarten through fifth grade on how to be an independent user not only of the LMC but of any library
• will be encouraged to use the Online Catalog (available from home <destiny.ipsd.org> and click on “Kendall Elementary School”) to search for the availability of materials as soon as the student is comfortable using this resource
• will be encouraged to select a variety of materials at an appropriate reading level
