The Library Media Center depends on its Parent Volunteer
Program organized by the Parent Teacher Association (PTA). The PTA LMC
volunteer coordinator creates a monthly schedule for the LMC. Willing
parents spend 2 hours assisting in the library on a weekly, bi-weekly or
monthly basis. Besides checking in and shelving materials and assisting
students with locating, selecting, and checking materials out, special
assistance is needed on a daily basis with special projects and activities
that occur (i.e. kindergarten monthly activity (Kin Connect), student
research, storytelling/activity time, art work/bulletin boards, record
keeping for reading programs and other activities, xeroxing, etc.). There is
always a variety of projects that need volunteer assistance. If time remains
during a volunteer’s scheduled day, our adopt-a-shelf program asks
volunteers to shelf-read specific library shelves assigned to each
volunteer. This helps us keep our shelves in good organization.
The LMC really counts on its daily volunteers to help keep
the center efficient and dynamic. To volunteer, please contact our LMC
Volunteer Coordinator or the LMC at 428-7106.
